Sergeant William Michael Lynch served with “A” squadron at Omdurman. He was born in Bengal, India, enlisted into the 21st Lancers, as a Boy at the age of 15 years, September 1889, and was a Musician by trade. He transferred to the 16th Lancers in June 1900, and served in South Africa with them until April 1902 (Queen’s and King’s medals). Transferred to the 12th Lancers in July 1903 and was discharged in July 1908. Sold with copy service papers which also show that he served as Trumpet Major in the Band.
