The lot is sold with both original M.I.D. certificates, five photographs of the recipient in uniform, two bronze XXX Corps commemorative medallions, a small booklet “30th Corps in Germany, a ribbon bar and items of cloth insignia including the famous ‘Wild Boar’ insignia of XXX Corps. The caption on a photograph of Cave as a W.O.II reveals that he was an ammunition examiner. Purchased by the vendor from the recipient who stated that his first M.I.D. was for North Africa where he saved the contents of an ammunition lorry which was on fire. The second M.I.D. was for disarming German booby-trapped ammunition dumps in Europe after D-Day.
