Nkumba Lichnard (Mkumba Richard on medal), a member of the Mnyansa Tribe, from Nsonko in the district of Zomba, enlisted for 9 years with the colours and six in the reserve at Zomba on 8 January 1947. With the 2nd Battalion King’s African Rifles he served in Singapore and Malaya, May 1953-December 1954. With copied service papers.

Speaking Sitima, a member of the Anguru Tribe, from the village of Chapweteka in the district of Mlanje, enlisted for 9 years with the colours and six in the reserve at Zomba on 3 August 1950. He was tried by District Court Martial at Zomba on 8 December 1951 for being absent without leave, 26 May-10 October 1951. Found guilty he was sentenced to 120 days imprisonment. In addition, he was several times on the defaulter’s sheet during 1951-54, for neglect of clothing, failing to comply with an order, being absent without leave and making an improper remark on parade. With the 2nd Battalion King’s African Rifles he served in Singapore and Malaya, May 1953-December 1954. With a quantity of copied service papers.
