Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Badajoz, Salamanca (Duncan Henderson, Asst. Surgn. 48th Foot) light hairlines, otherwise extremely fine £1200-1500

Duncan Henderson was appointed Hospital Mate, for General Service, on 24 October 1811, and as Assistant Surgeon in the 48th Foot on 16 April 1812. He served in the Peninsula with the 48th Foot and was present at the siege of Badajoz, and both the actions of Salamanca, 18th and 22nd July 1812. Henderson exchanged as Assistant Surgeon to the 42nd Foot in October 1812; to the 23rd Dragoons in November 1814; to the 78th Foot in October 1817, becoming Surgeon in that regiment Surgeon on 23 March 1826; to the 14th Foot in February 1833; and to the 5th Foot in January 1836. Doctor Henderson, M.D. (Glasgow 1817) retired on half-pay in July 1847, and died on 8 March 1868.
