William Gill was born in Redruth, Cornwall and lived and enlisted at Cardiff. Serving with the 1/5th Battalion Liverpool Regiment, he was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in action. Whilst serving with the 13th Battalion Liverpool Regiment, he was killed in action in France/Flanders, on 24 October 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial. With copied gazette extract.
