An interesting 1908 pattern trooper’s sword issued to the Indian Army, the straight 89cm blade and plated hilt of regulation pattern, the blade with Enfield marks but the bowl guard stamped ‘7/15 8RC 166’, presumably indicating its issue in July 1915 to the 8th. Cavalry, complete with its typically Indian field service wood scabbard covered with brown leather, with integral frog-stop and long plated steel chape, blade rubbed and some service wear overall £150-200
Although the 8th. Cavalry did not as a regiment serve on the Western Front, this sword could well have been issued to detachments who were attached to other regiments in the field.
