Corporal J. Range served with ‘B’ Squadron at Omdurman and was slightly wounded in the right arm and back in the charge on 2 September 1898. ‘B’ Squadron bore the brunt of the action, with 9 killed and 26 wounded and winning three Victoria Crosses and three D.C.Ms.
