Parks and Gardens, London, Lambeth, Vauxhall Gardens, uniface copper, unsigned [by R. Yeo after W. Hogarth], three Cupids, pedestal below inscribed iocosæ conveniunt lyræ, scrolled border, back dated (1746), 44 x 35mm, 22.75g (cf. D & W 84/284; cf. MG 678). A later striking from the die in rusted state, very fine and extremely rare; with integral loop for suspension £200-300
Provenance: From the stock-in-trade of W.S. Lincoln, Glendining Auction, 6-7 March 1930, lot 44 (part).
What happened to Yeo’s dies after his death is a matter of some conjecture: they were not included in the auction of his coins, tools and numismatic effects (Langford’s, 2-3 February 1780)
