Jack Ross Warrington, the son of Herbert and Doris Warrington of Hamilton, Auckland, died on active service in Italy on 10 April 1945, while serving as a Captain in the 21st Infantry Battalion, 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, almost certainly in action, or as a result of wounds received in the crossing of the Senio River - Auckland War Memorial records further confirm that he was mentioned in despatches. He was 23 years of age and is buried in Faenza War Cemetery, Italy.
