Wallace James Lane, a native of Melton Mowbray, served in 59th North Midland Division Signal Company, and was awarded his M.S.M. ‘in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Forces in France during the present war’ (London Gazette 17 June 1918 refers). His subsequent award of the Imperial Service Medal was in respect of his services as an Overseer at his home town’s post office (London Gazette 14 December 1945 refers); sold with copied MIC entry confirming his entitlement to only the British War & Victory Medals.
