‘Silver Medal and Certificate of Thanks to Wm. Dodson Barton, for having, with another, rescued a man in peril of drowning in West Harrington Dock, Liverpool, on the 18th February 1924’.
‘Silver Medal and Certificate of Thanks to P.C.207c, Wm. Dodson Barton, for stopping a runaway horse attached to a four wheeled van in Mill Street, Liverpool, on 22nd January 1927’ (Extracts from the Society’s records).
William Dodson Barton was born on 12 September 1894 and joined the Liverpool Police from the Army on 4 October 1920. In addition to the two Liverpool Shipwreck & Humane Society Medals, he was awarded a Liverpool Police Long Service Medal in October 1945. He was pensioned on 18 February 1946 after completing 25 years service.
