M.S.M. London Gazette 23 February 1918. ‘... for gallantry in the performance of military duty’ ‘Sergeant, Depot, Royal West Surrey Regiment’ - Home Forces.
Ex Police Inspector Henry Smith was awarded the Society’s Bronze Medal and £3.3s. (Case 15,722).
‘On 28th November 1917, Lieutenant J. F. C. Cunningham was saved from a fire in Hounslow, caused by a falling aeroplane’ (Ref. AR 1919; MB(5) - 11 October 1917). Note: some research with the lot suggests that the M.S.M. was to another member of the family.
