Born and enlisted Hawkhurst, Kent, 6th Battalion, killed in action 3.7.1916, Battle of the Somme. Sold with extract from the War Diary showing 3 Captains killed, 11 Subalterns wounded and 5 missing. Other Ranks killed, wounded or missing 375. At the commencement of the action the strength of the battalion was 617.
