D.C.M. London Gazette ‘For conspicuous gallantry when, though wounded in the head he volunteered to carry bombs to a bombing post and, in order to save time, went across the open in full view of the enemy; while crossing he was seriously wounded but handed over the bombs to the post’.

Serving with the 5th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment he was severely wounded in the action for which he was awarded the D.C.M. He later served with the Military Mounted Police. Entitled to the British War and Victory Medals and Silver War Badge. Sold with copied m.i.c.
