A 1796 pattern infantry officer’s sword, the 82cm straight fullered blade retaining approx 65% of its blue and gilt finish, decorated with crowned GR cypher, Royal Arms etc, copper-gilt regulation hilt, non-folding side guard, quillon and urn shaped pommel chased with acanthus, wood grip bound with twisted silver wire, hilt mounts retaining almost all original gilding, complete with its black leather scabbard, with three copper-gilt mounts, the locket engraved with the makers details ‘Goldney, late Neild, St James’s St, sword cutlers to the Prince of Wales‘ scabbard repaired and lacking hanging ring £400-500
