London, Hyde Park: Great Exhibition, 1851, Royal Entertainment at [the] Guildhall, a silver award medal by W. Wyon, coronetted head of Victoria left, rev. legend, edge named (Daniel Cork, Esq., Deputy), 36mm (Allen D5; E 1465; D & W 70/184; cf. DNW 49, 774). Some scuffing and nicks in reverse field, otherwise extremely fine and extremely rare, with swivelling straight bar suspension; in original gilt-blocked maroon case of issue with Royal arms (£400-500)

The obverse design is that of the Military General Service medal, presumably because Wyon’s illness prevented him from preparing a special medal for the event
