James Marbury Eaton-Shore lived in Crewe and enlisted at Westminster. Serving with the 1st/16th Battalion London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles), he was killed in action on 10 September 1916, aged 28 years. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of James and Annie Eaton-Shore of Garth, Milford, Stafford. Note: in the C.W.G.C. entry and published casualty roll his service number is given as ‘5401’.
