A Great War ‘Egypt’ D.C.M. to Acting Serjeant J. Stirling, Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders
Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (201302 Cpl.-A. Sjt., Arg. & Suth’d. Highrs.) very fine £600-700
D.C.M. London Gazette 1 May 1918. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. After a strong hostile counter-attack, which forced one company to give ground, his company being ordered up in support, he, on his own initiative, on four seperate occasions went out with bombs to harass the enemy, realising that the enemy would have to be held for such time as would enable a counter-attack to be organised. His gallant action was undoubtably one of the main reasons for the failure of the enemy to press home his attack on the village’. Sold with some copied research.
