Henry John Pack-Beresford was born on 22 August 1871, the son of Captain D. W. Pack-Beresford of Fenagh House, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, and was educated at Clifton. Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Highland Light Infantry in July 1894, he was promoted to Lieutenant in November 1896. With the 2nd Battalion H.L.I. he served in the Malakand and Buner Field Forces and was present at the attack and capture of the Tanga Pass. Promoted to Captain in August 1900, he served with the Imperial Yeomanry, February 1902-February 1903. He was then appointed an Officer of the Company of Gentleman Cadets, Royal Military College, May 1903-May 1906. Promoted a Major in the H.L.I. in February 1913 he later attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He died at Headley, Bordon, Hampshire on 26 May 1945. Sold with copied research.
