David Nathan was born in London on 23 July 1888, the son of Henry A. Nathan of Belsize Park Gardens. Educated at Clifton College, he became a Clerk in the Stock Exchange. He enlisted as a Volunteer in August 1914, was commissioned into the Royal Field Artillery in October 1914 and promoted to Lieutenant in April 1915. Serving in France from January 1917, he was killed in action during the Third Battle of Ypres on 20 August 1917, aged 29 years. He was buried in Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium. Sold with modern photographs of the cemetery and his headstone. Hickson M.I.D. not confirmed.
