Victor Gordon Hepper served in the R.A.F.V.R. from 4 March 1943 to 18 November 1944. He enlisted into the Army in February 1946 and was appointed to an Emergency Commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the R.A.O.C. on 2 August 1947. Posted to the East Africa Command in May 1948, he was promoted Lieutenant on 6 November 1948 and was appointed Temporary Captain in December 1948. Returning to the U.K. in June 1951, he was promoted Captain on 2 August 1953. He was then posted to Cyprus, 1956-59, where he served at 625 Ordnance and 146 Vehicle Depots. Returning to the U.K. he was appointed a General Staff Officer Grade III at the Directorate of Ordnance Services at the War Office, 1961-63. In June 1963 he was seconded to the Royal Sierra Leone Military Forces and was posted to the Ordnance Services, being appointed commanding officer of that unit on 7 June 1963. In that capacity he was appointed Local Major on 1 January 1965. Returning to the U.K. in July 1965 he was subsequently appointed General Staff Officer Grade II and posted to the Ministry of Defence in the Statistics Directorate, November 1965-January 1974, being appointed Acting Major in June 1970. He retired on account of disability and was granted the Honorary rank of Major on 8 December 1975.
