A Great War pair to Captain A.H. Arnold, West Yorkshire Regiment

Alfred Huntriss Arnold, 2nd battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, died on 30 December 1916, of wounds received in March 1915. He was educated at Uppingham, where he was a member of the O.T.C. He entered Sandhurst in 1911, and obtained his commission in the West Yorks in February 1912. He joined his regt. at Malta, and for over a year under Lt.-Col. Philips was at Skutari, Albania, when the powers stationed an international force there after the evacuation of the town by the Montenegrins. On the outbreak of the war he returned to Malta and came to England in September with his battalion. Captain Arnold took his full share of trench fighting all through the first winter campaign and was gazetted temp. Captain before Christmas 1914. He escaped injury until March last when he received the wounds that have since proved fatal.
