It seems probable that Barker served throughout the War in the cruiser H.M.S. Argonaut, her Battle Honours - “Arctic 1942”, “North Africa 1942”, “Mediterranenan 1942”, “Normandy 1944”, “South France 1944”, “Aegean 1944” and “Okinawa 1945” - complimenting his campaign star entitlement perfectly. Interestingly, too, she survived being torpedoed by an Italian submarine in February 1943, when her bow and stern were blow off.
