Military Cross, G.V.R., unnamed, in case of issue, extremely fine £260-300
Attributed to Second Lieutenant Selwyn Ivatts, Royal Field Artillery who was killed in action on 8 October 1917.
M.C. London Gazette 18 March 1918 ‘ For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as F.O.O., carrying out a protracted reconnaissance under continuous shelling. When it became impossible to maintain a telephone line, he kept communication throughout the day by lamp, though it was three times blown up by shell fire. His information enabled hostile concentrations to be broken up and couner-attacks prevented.’ Sold with copy of citation on old War Office paper.
